Accessibility Statement

What has been done

This site aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In practice that means:

• Text and background colours are checked for contrast, and body text is set at a comfortable size
• Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus outline
• Every form field has a visible label, and errors are announced to screen readers
• Images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers
• Headings are in order, so a screen reader can navigate the page by structure
• Pinch-zoom is never disabled, and the layout works when text is enlarged
• Animation is minimal, and is switched off entirely when your device is set to reduce motion
• Expandable sections use native browser controls, so they work with assistive technology and with find-in-page

Known limitations

Some documents Beacon prepares are court forms published by the State of California. Those forms are produced by the courts and their accessibility is outside Beacon's control.

If a form is difficult for you to read or complete, say so — Beacon can prepare it with you rather than sending it to you to fill in.

If something on this site is hard to use, please get in touch and describe what happened. It will be looked at and fixed where it can be.

Nothing about working with Beacon requires you to use this website. A phone call or a text does everything the form does, and consultations can be held in person, by phone or by video.
